Born in Argentina to an Italian father and Catalan mother, the person in charge of breakfast at the Hôtel Saint-Nicolas dropped anchor over 20 years ago in La Rochelle. And she has made our hotel the beating heart of her profession.
She grew up in Barcelona, where she wanted to be an art historian before branching off to study the hotel trade. In 1998, following a language and practical training course in our region, she began her career as a receptionist, working on the Ile de Ré, Saint Maixent l'Ecole and Châtelaillon-Plage.
In 2010, wanting to see her son Quentin grow up, she joined Le Saint-Nicolas as breakfast manager, so that she could be free for her eldest son and 7-year-old Angel when they got out of school. So, from 7 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., from checking that everything is in place to managing orders, welcoming customers and cleaning the area dedicated to the first meal of the day, this woman with a taste for organisation and human contact has a daily routine that she enjoys. " I really enjoy working here, in this hotel which is part of the heritage and life of La Rochelle. It's also nice to see the regulars coming back regularly, especially after what we've all been through with the pandemic", explains this energetic woman, who also likes to extol the virtues of her breakfast of home-made cakes and pastries concocted by an artisan baker from La Rochelle, as well as local products such as jams, honey and yoghurts.
Convinced that we shouldn't always be thinking about the future, but should make the most of the present moment, "Montse" is delighted to be part of the big family that is Le Saint-Nicolas, and to live her job to the full. Here and now.
